Compressor 4.1 waiting....

I've had the WORST luck using compressor 4.x of ANY Apple software since I started with my first Mac in 1987. Compressor repair has let me get the occassional job through on my old machine, but this version (4.1) has me livid.

I'm on a late 2013 rMBP 16GB RAM, 512 GB SSD, MacOSX 10.9.1, FCPx 10.1, Compressor 4.1. I'm simply attempting to take a 30 min H264 and convert it to a DV stream. Simple. I set up the task, and run the batch on "this computer" & all I get is Waiting...... NOTHING HAPPENS!

qmasterd in activity monitor is listed as not responding.

Ran the latest version of Compressor repair, repaired disk permisions.... am now at a loss as to how to get this app to actually do ANYTHING.

I'm hoping the brain trust out there has some insightfull suggestions.

thx

MacBook Pro (Retina, 15-inch, Late 2013), OS X Mavericks (10.9.1), 16GB Ram, 512GB SSD

Hi Irralvan, unfortunately bold type, terse directives and English spelling errors ("whole") to Apple are unhelpful in these forums. 😕

Instead what IS very helpful aside from suggestions/tips that actually work is Apple Software Feed Back at http://www.apple.com/feedback/compressor.html😎

Perhaps you might post these there.

BTW.. helpful tip... 😀 you can ",,reset" applications and tasks in the OSX UI simply through the /applications/utilities/activity monitor.app/View "Quit Process or "Send signal" or use the unix/linux kill command. It's been around since 2002.

I have repeatedly tried to fix this problem with Compressor stalling when multiple instances are selected. I've removed all of the folders in the Library/Application Support/Compressor folder except for the Settings folder.

I am able to process files in Compressor but only when I deselect "Enable additional Compressor instances".

This is the error message I get in Console related to Compressor:

This is occuring in a new clean install of Mavericks. On the back up copy of my old Mavericks boot drive Compressor works fine with 3 instances turned on.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Compressor 4.2 looks to have a reset in the Preferences menu, under "Advanced" and "Reset Queue". I was having a similar waiting issue. I selected "Cancel Jobs" after clicking the "Reset Queue" button, then I got an option to repair compressor after I tried to start another batch. After I "fixed compressor" or whatever it said, everything worked fine.

I'm not sure if this is new to 4.2, since I have literally only been using 4.1 for a day or so, then upgraded to 4.2 this afternoon.
