How to Setup Wireless Mighty Mouse with Windows XP

I used the following procedure on my IBM ThinkPad T41p at work with Windows XP SP2. This should work with Boot Camp as well.
  1. Turn on Bluetooth.
  2. Go to Control Panel -> Bluetooth Devices
  3. Click Add...
  4. Make sure your Mighty Mouse is turned on.
  5. When the Welcome to the Add Bluetooth Device Wizard dialog appears, click the checkbox that says My device is setup and ready to be found. Now click the Next > button.
  6. Windows XP will now search for available Bluetooth devices. If you Mighty Mouse is not found, try turning it off and then on again.
  7. Select Mighty Mouse in the search dialog. Click Next >.
  8. Click the radio button for Use the passkey found in the documentation: and enter 0000. Click Next >.
  9. Your Mighty Mouse should now be paired with Windows XP. Click Finish in the Completing the Add Bluetooth Device Wizard. Close the Bluetooth Devices control panel.

Left, right, and middle buttons all seem to work fine. Even the scroll ball works! The side buttons go back a page in Firefox as someone else reported, but they don't seem to do anything in Outlook.

This functionality is good enough for my usage, but hopefully Apple will give us a real Windows control panel/driver for the Mighty Mouse in a future Boot Camp update.

I just installed Windows on my MacBook Pro (UGH!!) Not for my use - someone elses - got mixed opinions on mighty mouse and XP.

Searched out this post, followed (the above) instructions and It works! Thanks...

BUT FYI...

When entering the four zeros ( 0000 ) first, XP didn't recognize the passkey. So I read the whole info window and it said they recommend 8 - 16 characters. So I added four more zeros making my passcode 00000000 and voilá ... XP recognized the mouse and it works. THANK YOU!!!

Yep, I have exactly the same problem.

Only installed the new drivers since they were supposed to fix the problem of the internal speaker playing in windows XP, which they don't.

The wireless keyboard and mouse come up as HID devices, and the bluetooth enumerator / radio comes up as 'base system device'.

Bluetooth kicker doesn't make any difference, nor will the new drivers uninstall via Add/Remove dialog!

Another fine mess apple have got us into!

Mac Pro Windows XP and OSX, of course

OK, after rebooting with XP I initially had problems with the Computer recognizing my wireless mouse and keyboard, but following others' advice I found that just clicking the mouse and keyboard will have it recognize the bluetooth devices. However, it takes several seconds, so don't despair . . . the key on this one is patience. Also, I think the keyboard has to be done after logging in. Usually, the keyboard is the trouble maker and it gets stuck while the computer is processing, so I just turn it off and then back on and that does the trick. I haven't had to re-enter the info since I last posted here last year.
