I am running 10.9.1 on my iMac and just set up my Gmail account in the Mail app. My Gmail "Starred" folder is missing. "Important" is there, but my starred items appear in one "Flagged" folder at the top. I want to be able to see a "Starred" folder in Mail for each of my three Gmail accounts. What am I missing?
I have this same issue with a new Macbook Air OS 10.11.6. Will try the IMap setting - very annoying!

Have you followed the process mentioned in this forum ?
Have you turned it on in Imap (check at the Gmail website settings page)
The setting is turned on, and the folder is now there, but there are no messages inside the folder. There should be three messages that I starred.
Now the folder is gone again. I've deleted my Google account from OS X's internet accounts and re-added it, but the problem remains. iOS devices work fine by the way.
Now the Starred folders for two Gmail accounts are gone again. They are there on iPhone, iPad and Airmail app.
Where is my Gmail "Starred" folder in Mail on Mavericks?
