Tried to create new apple id & Server Error message

Earlier today I created (well tried) a new Apple id and the system returned an error message saying "server error" and the info I"d created disappeared. I thought perhaps it might have worked regardless of error message but it didn't.

I've just set up a new ipad and decided that rather than the one apple id for everything I'd like to have a separate apple id for icloud.

I also notice that where it displays associated devices the ipad is not showing (but two phones are) ... is there a delay or is there a problem with my apple id?

Thanks in advance for any info!

If you mean going to Store>View Account, then clicking the Manage Devices link under iTunes in the Cloud, those are the devices that are authorized to download purchases from iTunes in the Cloud for the ID.

A device is associated with an ID when the device is signed in with the ID in Settings>iTunes & App Store, and you have either turned on Automatic Downloads, have downloaded previously purchased media to the device, or have subscribed to iTunes Match. You can only switch IDs to do this once every 90 days. If you haven't done any of these three things on the device yet, it is not yet associated with the ID.

The device is only associated with the ID when you redownload a previously purchased app with the ID (or enable automatic downloads for the ID in Settings>iTunes & App Store), not when you just purchase something with an ID.

If your device was already associated with an ID in this way during the last 90 days, you would receive a pop-up warning when you changed IDs in Settings>iTunes & App Store. It wouldn't cause a server error. If you didn't receive this warning when you changed IDs your fine.

This article explains this "90-day switch" rule, and how to see in iTuns which devices are associated with an ID and how long they will have to wait until switching IDs: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4627.

Okay, please forgive me for wasting your time. It seems that it's probably only showing the devices that have been in the cloud; since the ipad is new and I'm trying to set it up cleanly with new id's I haven't iClouded with it yet.

Sorry 😟 just getting frustrated and now seeing problems where there aren't any!

Still curious about the new apple id and server error message....

So, this means that if the first apple id I used (for instance, say an id that would allow me to shop in a store that's in a different country)....but I just downloaded free app, and then log out and have no plans on using that id again.

Are you saying that Apple will not let me switch back to my preferred id for three months? Or is this just re iCloud?

Could this be related to the server error?

Where does one check to see when they can switch id's?
