Need printer driver for Style Writer 2400

Have you already purchased/received the Color StyleWriter 2400 that you found online? As the owner of (3) 2400s that have long been retired, I hope you haven't, because that printer is old (1995-vintage) and ink for it is more difficult to find. It was built for Apple by Canon and was based on the Canon BubbleJet 4000 series. Forget finding Apple-branded ink cartridges - they aren't made (by Canon) anymore. You'll need to use those designed for the Canon 4000 series ink jet printers. Unfortunately, the 2400s/2500s had a problem with the cartridges, wherein the printer wouldn't print and produced an error message that the cartridge was missing or wasn't installed correctly. With the electronic circuit board attached to the side of the cartridge, it was never clear what component was at fault. I had to discard several cartridges that still had plenty of ink in them, because of this defect. That's when I decided that I wouldn't waste another dollar buying replacement cartridges. A better choice of color inkjet printer for legacy Macs is the Epson Stylus Color 740, which supports Mac connectivity via the mini DIN-8 serial printer port or a USB port. It does a great job printing color photos, and you can still find replacement ink tanks for it at office supply stores. This printer is also compatible with PCs, via a parallel port and USB port. Once I began using this model, it became clear that the 2400s/2500s couldn't compare, in terms of print quality and dependability.

If I remember correctly Apple 1500 and 2500 software caused so many cleaning cycles that much more ink was lost cleaning than printing. The Canon software was more frugal but not much better. I think you could use either software with both Apple and Canon printers. If colour is not important the large black only cartridge is much more cost effective.
