Why does my app always ask for access to Contacts?

I have written an app in AppleScript, that tries to access Contacts. Every time I run the app, I get a dialog asking me to allow access. In Settings / Security & Privacy / Privacy, my app is listed as one of the apps that is allowed to access Contacts, and the box is checked. I'm stumped. Thanks for any suggestions!
