automatic quotation mark error at end of paragraph

Have just updated to maverics and installed 5.0.1 pages on my MBP

Am typing out a document and am finding that evry time i press enter and start a new paragraph it automatically inserts quotation marks.

These marks cant be selected or deleted, the only way to delete them is to remove the paragraph break and join the sentences back togehter.

It only happens with certain fonts though.

There is a reason i am using this particular font so would rather not change it and would like to get to the root of the problem.

These 'ghost' quotation marks also come out when i print the document which is why it has become a problem.

Pages-OTHER, OS X Mavericks (10.9.1)

You are probably using one of the Asian fonts. Which font are you using? My advice is to use another one.

The font is called sansumi

Would rather not use a different font as i have noticed it happens with other fonts and is an integral part of my design marketing.

Surely there is a way to turn this off or fix it?

So you have "certain fonts" and Pages 5.01?

What could you possibly do to avoid the problems?

Do you have Pages 09 in applications/iwork 09 folder? Try it out in Pages 09. It works fine on mt Snow Leopard partition. It could be a problem with Pages 5 or with Mavericks.

I dont have Pages 09 in applications/iwork 09 folder. 😟

Was running 'Microsoft word for mac' on my iMAC but under mavericks power PC apps are no longer supported so I downloaded 'Pages 5.0.1'

That is too bad. You can try the font in Text edit and see if it works, just to see if it is Pages or Mavericks that might be the problem.

Does the latest MS Office for Mac work on Mavericks?

Tried it in TextEdit, no problems...

Looks like its definatley a Pages / Mavericks probelm.

Yes, another Pages 5 problem!!!! You can give Apple feedback on this here http://www.apple.com/feedback/pages.html

You should try to talk to Apple/ MacAppStore and complain over the application as it doesn't work for you business purposes. You have paid for it and it had problems handeling the font you use. Try if you can't get Pages 09 instead.

Have submitted some feedback so hopefully apple will be able to give me a refund or copy of '09

Just so you understand that the feedbacklink will not help you for the refund. You have to contact Apple or Mac AppStore for that.
