Sony Blu Ray player S4100 - want to connect it to wifi.

I want to connect it to the wifi, I have an airport extreme.

Manual says I need a Wireless USB adapter, which is fine, but what do I need to buy/do?

I bought a Netgear N600 usb adapter, but upon set up it wants me to press the WPA button to connect it, but I know an airport doesn't have this.

Not necessarily looking for an answer on how to connect this particular adapter - you probably can't...

Just hoping for someone to point me in the right direction!

Thanks in advance.

I believe the directions are informing you that you need to press the WPS (not WPA) button to connect the adapter to your wireless network. WPS is, in theory, a simplier way to connect wireless clients to an secure wireless network.

The problem is that the Apple routers offer a very simple level of WPS support and is designed to be used with wireless printers.

However, it may still be possible to connect the Sony using this method. Otherwise does the adapter offer an option to use WPA Personal or WPA-PSK instead?

To try WPS, you will need to use the AirPort Utility, as follows:

  • Run the AirPort Utility on your MacBook Pro.
  • Select your AirPort Extreme base station.
  • Select Edit.
  • From the utility's menu bar, select Base Station, and then, select "Add WPS Printer."
  • In the "Add WPS Printer" popup windows choose the "Allow WPS printer by: First attempt" option, and then, click on Continue.
  • Now go back to the USB adapter and attempt to connect to the base station.
