Newsgroups in Safari or Mail?

How does one access newsgroups in Safari or Mail? Can this be done?
On my Windows PC, I use my mail client (Outlook Express)

The most popular news reader for a long time has been MT Newswatcher. It recently went universal binary and can be downloaded here...

Old timers like me swear by it. Not a fancy OS X style GUI but it does just about anything you need it to on usenet newsgroups. The author is a long time Mac programmer and works (don't know if he still does) on the Netscape programming team.

Entourage, part of Microsoft Office, also reads newsgroups.
