Software updating issue!

I have a 2008 Mac OS X Leopard laptop.

I bought the OS X Snow leopard software and it downloaded.

I then bought the OS X Lion software AND OS X Mountain Lion software but neither of them would download!!

It says I need 2GB space for OS X Lion to download, but I have 39GB worth of free space!

Please someone help me resolve this issue.. It's costing me patience, time and alot of money!

MacBook, Mac OS X (10.6.8)

You need to install more RAM in your computer; it's not the same as hard drive space. You may also want to ask for refunds for one or both of the downloads.

1. Check the documentation provided with your computer, or see #2.

2. Append the last three characters of the computer's serial number to http://www.everymac.com/ultimate-mac-lookup/?search_keywords= and load the page; this will give you the computer's maximum OS version as well as a link to RAM installation instructions. Note that any computer which can run Mountain Lion can also run Mavericks, which is free.
