iTunesHelper.exe - System Error

Hi,

I am getting an error message when logging into my system after iTunes is installed:

Error Message is:

The program can't start because MSVCR80.dll is missing from your computer. Try reinstalling the program to fix this problem.

I have narrowed the problem down to having another software program installed called Objective, Objective runs on startup a program called WinTalkSessionWatcher.exe that uses MSVCR90.dll, I have found that if iTuneHelper runs before WinTalkSessionWatcher all is ok but if WinTalkSessionWatcher runs first than the error occurs.

Does anyone else get this and how can this be fixed?

Regards

Rodney

Here is the 'voicewarmup' log file from the SCCM install, I hope someone can see what is happening:

No WinTalkSessionWatcher is not a service, it runs from HKLM - Run.

We have over 1000 desktops that run Objective and not so many desktops running iTunes in a controlled environment so yes we could setup delayed runs and such but I have seen this problem with the iTunesHelper more than once with other software and for a number of years so I am looking at getting the problem fixed other that creating another work around. Can the apple programing gurus take a look and resolve this or am I just barking up the wrong tree?

Is there a way to submit a bug to Apple or do I have to call?

Regards

Rodney

I was already looking at the new version as I am to package it for SCCM, but I must say it is not playing nice.

Apple Application Support is not installing through SCCM but is manually. it seems to get half installed to a point that you can't install or uninstall it.

Command I am using is:

msiexec /i "AppleApplicationSupport.msi" /qn

So I have now swapped one problem for a bigger problem.

Thanks

Can't run that utility as we are behind a authentication proxy server and this tool can't get out to the Internet.

I will say that I am trying to install iTunes on a fresh built Win7 box and a fresh built Win7 VM. Both having the same problems so I don't think there will be a registry problem as I can install many other application through SCCM to these two systems including the old version of AppleApplicationSupport.msi

OK, the error I am getting is 1603.

ERROR_INSTALL_FAILURE 1603 Fatal error during installation.

When I look at the MSI log file it has one entry:

A later version of Apple Application Support is already installed on this computer.

Now I am trying to install AppleApplicationSupport.msi version 3.0 (I believe this is the latest).

1. To test that the software is not installed already I just ran the msi and get the install screen for the software and than exit without installing.

2. Try to install the software via SCCM (this fails with the 1603 error)

3. when I run the software again from the msi I get the above message the same as in the msi log file.

I think there is something wrong with the msi.
