I have a new Apple tv which I bought mainly to randomly display all the photos on my pc as a slideshow on my tv. Everything is set up, however of the 18000 or so photos on my pc, only about 100 are displaying on the tv. These photos play over and over. I have the settings on the slideshow as all photos, shuffle and no repeats. This is very frustrating so wondering if anyone can help please?

Are you referring to the screensaver or using home-sharing?
Photos used for the screenaver are tempoararily cached to the flash drive, and only a small portion is used. It is usally around 100 that are stored.
If using home-sharing you would be accessing via the computers icon.

It's on the slideshow using the Apple tv menu to set up. I've got home sharing on in itunes on the pc and it's set to access my entire library.
That would be the screensaver. It may be set to use your entire library but only a certain number will be cached to the device.
If you want access to your entire library you need to go to the computers icon in order to use home sharing.

To clarify, On the Apple tv menu, I select the computer icon which takes me to the music and photo library on my pc. I select the photo library, then set it to shuffle/not repeat photos etc and start slideshow.

Just did a test, had it running for awhile under the computers - photos - slideshow function and it was going through the photos with no issue. All I can suggest is to double check your settings in iTunes.
The reason I suspected the screensaver is because that does in fact only display around 100.
Thanks. So you didn't notice any of the photos playing more than once? I just checked itunes and everything is set to play the entire library so not sure what else it could be. It's frustrating because I want to play the photos for an event and need to get it sorted before then!
No duplications whatsoever. The screensaver plays a select group but home sharing accesses the full library.
Maybe screenshots (ATV and computer ) would help diagnose the issue.
Interesting. Do you have your photos in folders on your computer - I have different ones for different occasions, months etc.? Just a thought ... Will organise screenshots.
No. I use a Mac and have them in iPhoto. It's likely to do with how they are organized on your computer within the various folders.
Thank you again. Just an update in case it helps someone else too. I went back to my pc and on itunes, under file/home sharing/choose photos to share with Apple tv I chose to share photos from selected folders instead of all folders. Even though I've pretty well ticked all the folders it seems to have worked because so far I haven't seen a repeat photo. Will keep monitoring this.
