Logitech keyboard with new iPad not working at all

Basically, it says it's paired but...it just doesn't work at all. The only sign that I have that the iPad recognizes the existence of the Logitech bluetooth keyboard is under "settings > Bluetooth" where it says it's paired.

I've tried resetting, unpairing and re-pairing, everything a lay person could think to do, and it is just not working.

It's a recent problem and came out of nowhere (not after any sort of update) after it working just fine for months (well, I couldn't get it to choose another language for typing Chinese pinyin, but I never had figured that out).

...help?

(Bought the keyboard at an Apple authorized reseller as we don't have Apple stores in Taiwan)

There is no list of virtual or hardware keyboards. Under Settings > General > Keyboard, I have a bunch of options like "Auto Capitalization", "Auto Correction", "Check Spelling", a choice to split my keyboard (not sure what that does but it's on), shortcut text and another bar labeled "Keyboards". That leads to the various languages I can have keyboards in, and more languages I can choose.

Nothing about "virtual" or "hardware" keyboard options at all! I wouldn't even know where to look for that.

Interesting...the only thing that has prompted me to do, though, is to turn off and restart my iPad. The link to my specific problem (problem connecting to a Bluetooth device - pairing is successful) leads to instructions for what to do if you get a notification that it won't connect.

However, I don't get such a notification. It says it's connected (sometimes I get the littke "searching" clock lines that go around in a circle, too) but it just...isn't.

Tap on one of the languages in that keyboard list to see the Virtual and Hardware choices. Tell me what the Hardware choice is for the language you want to normally type in using your hardware keyboard.

Some language keyboards (including 2 for Traditional Chinese) have no hardware keyboard layout available.

There are no hardware "choices" but there are hardware (and software) "layouts" like US, US-International-PC, British, French, Dvorak etc.. btu all under the "English" keyboard option.

However, the keyboard has suddenly started working again!

Dunno why. Just dunno. I changed nothing. I'd still like to know why it stopped working for so long, but at least the problem isn't as urgent.

That is what I was referring to. In each category, Virtual and Hardware, the user makes a separate "choice" regarding which layout is to be used, which is indicated by a check mark I think. It is the same for every language keyboard option.

Glad to hear it is working again.

The software layouts are QWERTY, AZERTY and QWERTZ. The hardware layout choices are all languages except for Dvorak and Colemak. I chose just "U.S.".

Nothing references the pop-up screen keyboard or my Logitech one, although I do wonder if another choice would allow me to switch languages from the Logitech keyboard (which I currently can't seem to do, although the "3" key has a little icon for it along with a "third tone" Chinese marker and a hashtag symbol. I would like to switch languages from that keyboard if possible as I often write in Chinese (Pinyin, not Zhuyin, but either should be possible). Right now I have to go back to the screen keyboard and change the language before reconnecting, or just type it on the screen.

But that's a totally different issue...I should post elsewhere about it. Sorry for going off topic.

The "software" options are for screen keyboard, the "hardware" options are for any hardware keyboard. If you were a French speaker used to the AZERTY layout, you would choose azerty under software and French under hardware.

To switch languages using a hardware keyboard, try apple/command plus space or option/alt plus apple/command plus space.
