Boris Title 3D does not appear in FCE 3.5 viewer generators menu

Hello. I've recently installed FCE HD 3.5 (all the options with LiveType, SoundTrack, etc.), and now I'm learning it.

But now I cannot find the Boris 3D text generator under viewer generetors pop up menu. I'm pretty sure that 3D title is installed. Please, any help on how to get Boris under generators menu would be greatly appreciated.

Regards,
Dmitriy.

Sorry. Application Support is what I meant.

Are you sure it's not in the Generators? It's in a
sub-menu called Boris.

No, it's not there. All it's showing is:

Bars*
Matte>
Others>
Render>
Shapes>
Slug
Text>

Also I was using dual monitor (connected my PowerBook to external Dell monitor) May be it has to do something with this anomaly? Has anyone ever reported something like this?

Thanks,
Dmitriy.

This is the first instance of this that I've heard
of. You might want to do a full install of FCE and
all its components and reinstall the application. Was
this an upgrade or a new installation?

It was a brand new installation (boxed version) of FCE 3.5 with everything (LiveType, SoundTrack, FCE).

I'm afraid so too I'm gonna have to do the full re-install. Now, is there a recommended way to uninstall FCE and all its components for the purpose of reinstalling it? Or just insert the installation CD and it should do the trick?

Thanks,
Dmitriy.

Hi(Bonjour)!

What is the language of your system ? Does the installation of FCE and als. is in the same language ?

We'd saw some problems of generator with french "localization" of FCE in previous version.

Try to start your mac in english (pref panel:international-drag english language on top). Now select FCE's icon in your applications folder, get infos, and uncheck any languages other than english. Now you FCE will works in english only. See if Boris is there. To revert FCE's language to anything but english, just get info for application's icon, and check your default language.

By the way, if the english language works, you can just use it for FCE, and revert your mac os to any language you want, just be sure to uncheck all other in FCE's "get info" window.

Hi Michel. I believe everything is English (OS X, FCE). I'll double check and play with internatiolization options when I get home tonight.

I haven't got Boris either. My Effects window shows the same as yours. Finder > Find "boris" finds lots of Boris in:

InternalHD > Library > Application Support > Boris FX (and also BorisFX (no space)); and

InternalHD > Library > Application Support > Final cut Express Support > Plugins > Boris Calligraphy.

I installed my FCE 3.0 in accordance with the installer. All my applications (including FCE) are in my InternalHD > Applications folder

What should I do to get Boris to appear within FCE?

Thanks.

I have experienced the same issue. I have verified the correctness of my installation on numerous occasions. I have deleted preferences using the prescribed method, scoured the internet for an answer. In short, I've done everything and still Boris does not show where it should. I'm stumped, mystified, flabbergasted, dumbfounded, etc. Dang it I'm just flat-out mad about it. GRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!

Have you completely uninstalled FCE and all its components, including all folders, documents, files and other items containing any of its affiliated applications, including, but not limited to, folders, files and documents containing the words Boris, BorisFX, Boris FX, Title 3D, or Title Crawl, as well as all folders, documents, files, and other items related to or containing, but not limited to, the words Final Cut, Final Cut Express, FCE, LiveType, or Soundtrack.

No, my FCE 3.0 was a fresh installation, FCE never having been previpously present in my computer. I don't want to go to the bother of reinstalling FCE, with little probable chance of it installing correctly. I will do without it until I need Boris.

(I typed "f a g" (no spaces) instead of "bother" the first time and it was replaced by *. I must be rather behind the times on the argot of p o r n o g r a p h y!)

I've done all of that last night: completely deleted all the items (files, folders, plists, prefs, etc) as described on Apple's site. Then reinstalled FCE with all the related components. Still NO BORIS!

I think there is no point to bother people anymore on this forum. I really appreciate your efforts to help. This must be some kind of unfortunate "hidden bug" on my system that I'm going to have to live with.

As a last resort I might try to stop by the nearest Apple store and try to find someone who knows FCE, etc. Or I might try to contact Apple, file the bug report, or something like that (can some one tell me how to go about it?).

If all else fails, I'll just use LiveType for my titling needs. Would this be a viable option?

Dmitriy.
