cannot turn off passcode

After 2 years my ipod asked me to change my passcode. it was never turned on. now i cannot turn it off;it is greyed out so i have to use a passcode.

iPod touch (4th generation), Mac OS X (10.7.5)

Hi! I realize that I stumbled upon your question a little late, but in case you still have this question, then check out this forum I just posted (and minutes later found the solution by myself!)

Cannot Turn iPod Passcode Off

It may work for you (hopefully it will!). Are you signed in with an Exchange account in Mail? If so, try removing your exchange account from Mail. It worked for me, hopefully it can help you!
