Upgrading Late 2008 MacBook Pro Memory?
I have a late 2008 model MacBook Pro & I recently switched out the DDR3 Ram memory slot, the original was 1067 Mhz, the new one was 1066 Mhz is that okay?

Yes. Some vendors just 'round' the speed up.
Do you have the Early or Late 2008 model?

Late 2008 model
MacBook Pro (15-inch, late 2008) |
|
Number of memory slots | 2 |
Base memory | 2 GB |
Maximum memory | 4 GB |
Memory card specifications | - Double Data Rate Small Outline Dual Inline Memory Module (DDR3) format - 30mm (1.18 inch) - 1 GB or 2 GB - 204-pin - PC3-8500 DDR3 1066 MHz type RAM |
Additional notes | For best performance, fill both memory slots and install an identical memory module in each slot. |
So you got the full 8GB? That's what I consider the 'sweet spot' for Mavericks.

I install the new memory cards & now my macbook pro is just making a beeping sound with a black screen?
Three beeps?
Did you install the modules correctly? Who manufactured them?
Three beeps indicates the RAM didn't pass the system's integrity check - a module is either faulty or not installed correctly. Try reseating the sticks, and try one stick at a time.
I used these specs when I ordered the new slot cards. Seems like the computer is not accepting them?
Macs can be very Fussy about RAM...
You can use these Links to check which RAM is suitable for your Mac...
http://eshop.macsales.com/shop/apple/memory/
It is Important to get the Correct and Matching RAM
Those sites also have videos on how to Install RAM should you need it....

Make sure the RAM is Seated Correctly... If the issue persists... Put the Original RAM back in... If your Computes Boots Up, then there is probably an Issue with the RAM you purchased.
Return it for a Refund.
I only purchased up to 4gb of Ram. Because Apple said the maximum was 4gb.
Macs are picky about RAM - around here most of us recommend either Crucial or OWC for RAM.
Which brand did you purchase?

You can install up to 8GB. Go to the Crucial website and click on the System Scanner tab. Download and unzip the small app that will report back to Crucial your configuration and recommend upgrade paths.
Good luck,
