Looks like no one’s replied in a while. To start the conversation again, simply ask a new question.

How can I speed up my MBP?

Like many others, my MBP has slowed considerably since installing Mavericks. Before the install, it was a screaming machine, meaning, it was fast. I run Clean My Mac and MacKeeper regularly, but nothing is helping. I've emptied my cache in Chrome (the only browswer I use). Still nothing. I found a post here about running a program called EtreCheck, which I've done. Below are the results. Can anyone tell me if there are things listed that need to be fixed/deleted/updated/etc.? I would so appreciate it.

I have no idea why I would have BB software installed. I haven't had one since before I got my MBP. Can you tell me how to delete it? I looked in apps but there's nothing called Blackberry there.

Another question: I don't remember seing a "Deleted Users" folder in my favorites list. I opened it and it has my name. Confused. Is this something new with Mavericks?

The pieces are found in the Launch Daemons and Launch Agents categories.

They are labeled com.rim.BBDaemon.plist and com.rim.BBLaunchAgent.plist

They need to be deleted.

Not sure where these are located.

They are either in your Home folder>Library>Preferences folder OR

System>Library>Preferences folder

Is there a way to privately email forum members?

I do not know if this is possible or not.

I have never done it. You would have to ask the community member you want to email and I think there maybe a way for that member to show their email address when you click on their name to the left of the actual post.

I am just not sure how this is accomplished if you want to sens a private email to someone on these forums.

Perhaps other long time members know how to accomplish this and will post the info in another reply post.

I don't want to ruffle feathers, but, what is your obsession with trashing etrecheck? It is an effective diagnostic tool which has been verified and used on these forums countless times. Using etrecheck doesn't invalidate the efficacy of your shell script.

Etresoft is a trustworthy fellow and constantly ripping on him in these forums is neither productive nor necessary. I just don't get the motivation. Everyone knows you are a computer whiz, probably the best on these forums, but your attitude towards other contributing members is quite distasteful.

Then those items aren't in those libraries.

I forgot, Apple made the OS X system files invisible to the average user in OS X Mavericks to prevent users from damaging the system files in some way.

My bad.

Unfortunately, I do not remember how one how one goes about revealing these folders and files when you are actually using the OS.

I have been able to get at these files when I am running OS X Snow Leopard (on my internal hard drive ) and can access my external drive where OS X Mavericks resides and can see all files and folders.

Hopefully, some one with correct info to help you will be along.

I found these in LaunchAgents after deleting CleanMyMac. Should I delete them? Do I just move to trash?

com.macpaw.CleanMyMac.helperTool.plist

com.macpaw.CleanMyMac.trashSizeWatcher.plist

com.macpaw.CleanMyMac2Helper.diskSpaceWatcher.plist

com.macpaw.CleanMyMac2Helper.scheduledScan.plist

com.macpaw.CleanMyMac2Helper.trashWatcher.plist
