I have LittleSnitch on my MacBook and after months of being just fine it popped up a message saying ntpd wanted to connect to 58.215.177.51:52562. Any idea what that is about? It's a server running in Beijing and doesn't seem to have anything to do with time. This is on ML.
Later: Now the address traces to China Telecom in Nanjing.
The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) maintains their own servers for time syncing and are absolutely the most accurate.
http://tf.nist.gov/tf-cgi/servers.cgi or you could just try time.nist.gov to allow the server to offset the load to its different time servers.
I also got the same to the server in China and blocked it. Last night same thing only It was trying to connect to this site >185.35.62.241 (also blocked)
