Alternative to Team Viewer

If one wishes to work on a remote Apple from another Apple (both MacBook Pros), is there an alternative to using a program such as Team Viewer?

Thanks,

Hi

A very similar product to Team Viewer is Log Me In:

https://secure.logmein.com/welcome/freeremotecontrola/?destination=/welcome/free remotecontrola/&wt.srch=1&utpk=how%20to%20set%20up%20logmein&originid=345688&mco mb=s2EFeuaOR%7C31835068389%7Chow%20to%20set%20up%20logmein%7Cb%7Ci8rbbhb5l0%7Cc& gclid=CNCYgpyhlLwCFdShtAod8zoAaw

Beyond these two there are others such as what's already built into the OS - Apple Remote Desktop. How 'easy' it is to use these depends a lot on what you mean by 'remote' and your skill set. If the remote mac is in another building and therefore on a separate network to yours, you will need to have understanding of some basic networking concepts such as TCP/IP; port forwarding; routers/firewalls; possibly VPNs? If you have no idea of any of these or even where to start then it may best if you stick with Team Viewer and/or Log Me In?

HTH?

Note however that LogMeIn is discontinuing their free service, and their paid version is a yearly subscription.

To clarify a point, Apple Remote Desktop is not built into Mac OS X. The client is, but the administration application must be purchased from the Mac App Store. Screen sharing, however, is built into OS X, and may be all you need if you can work through the issues on IP ports and addresses that Antonio mentions.
