Hi, How do you manually check for itunes updates when itunes doesnt open. I had a msg to reinstall itunes. This was done today with new download of pgm. Since it is impossible to open itunes, I always got a error msg R6034.

That comment was directed towards MrsSabrina in regards to an issue with Windows Update. As far as iTunes is concerned there is a direct download link for it in this slighty updated version of my earlier advice...

Go to Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs (Win XP) or Programs and Features (later)

Remove all of these items in the following order:

• iTunes
• Apple Software Update
• Apple Mobile Device Support (if this won't uninstall press on)
• Bonjour
• Apple Application Support

Reboot, download iTunes, then reinstall, either using an account with administrative rights, or right-clicking the downloaded installer and selecting Run as Administrator.

The uninstall and reinstall process will preserve your iTunes library and settings, but ideally you would back up the library and your other important personal documents and data on a regular basis. See this user tip for a suggested technique.

Please note:

Some users may need to follow all the steps in whichever of the following support documents applies to their system. These include some additional manual file and folder deletions not mentioned above.

Hi

I've done everything TuringTest2 has said and I still can't get iTunes to work (or an iTunes alternative I tried in desperation) I get an r6034 error, I'm at the end of my tether, can someone please help?

thank you.worked a treat.did have to delete icloud as well as the other apple programmes.

I am an older user that is very... compouter illiterat and fear losing my itunes library if I do this. I have never backed up my system (my bad). Will I lose my library if I do your fix?

Tried this as well, but did not work.

Get the following messages: at Program: C:\ Programfiles (x86)\iTunesHelper.exe

R6034

An application made an attemp to load the C runtime library incorrectly. etc ...

and another pop-up:

iTunes was not installed correctly. Please reinstall iTunes.

Error 7 (Windows error 1114)

Somebody says that I am missing the file icudt49.dll. I have installed this in the meantime, but no help

Try working working through all the steps listed in HT1923: Removing and reinstalling iTunes for Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8. Try to ignore any error messages that crop up along the way, and if a particular uninstall rolls back just move on to the next one. You should be able to get to the point that you've uninstalled all that you can. Reboot. Ignore any error on reboot. Then attempt to install iTunes from the current download page. It ought to work. Good luck...
