update 11.1.4 won't install on my laptop. Now I can't get iTunes to work at all.

Update 11.1.14 gave me an error message saying that I should download it and then try to install it manually. I can't seem to do that either. Now iTunes won't open at all. What do I do now? Have I lost everything I had loaded on iTunes?

Hey I finally got an older vesion of itunes to work!!! 10.7 x64 for windows 7
After uninstalling all apple products even quicktime
I had to delete everything from (program files, and program files x64, program data,)
And all downloads from apple, and I went in to search deleted other stuff from apple, and itunes
But definently not my itunes library and Playlist
Down loaded 10.7 x64 for windows 7, but checked (do not start when done)
Then I emptied my recycling bin and restarted my PC
I ran geek tech tool box same as reg cure pro, also PC Tools registry cleaner, and CC Cleaner
Then I emptied my recycling bin and restarted my PC
And wallah... It finally works, and I Love the older version anyways.
Easier to download and transfer music!!!!!

TT2 -- Thanks for posting the solution to what I assume is an issue with Aplle's iTunes update. The solution worked fine.

I did have to go to the next step and delete selected files & folders. For anyone else who needs to do that, if one of the subfolders in "C:/program files (x86)/common files/Apple" can't be deleted, it may be because an application file in that folder is open. After following the instructions TT2 posted and after deleting what I could in Step 2, I went to Task Manager and looked at both "Processes" and "Services" and closed a couple of Apple-related applets that were stil running. Then was able to delete the remaining subfolder in C:/.../common files/Apple. Then I rebooted and reinstalled the latest version of iTunes.

The newest iTunes won't work unless iTunes and supporting applications are completely uninstalled first.

After you have uninstalled everything Apple tells you to (http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1923) using the uninstall feature in the Control Panel, these are the folders you need to manually delete the contents of:

C:\Program Files\Common Files\Apple\Mobile Device Support

C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Apple\Mobile Device Support (if it exists)

You have to delete the contents of the Mobile Device Support folders before you can delete the Mobile Device Support folders or you will get an error message.

If you don't have the Mobile Device Support folder in either location, reboot and try to install the software. This has worked for lots of people so far. I hope it works for you, too.

tt2,

I have been following this post as I have the same issue. I have tried multiple times to get a clean install and have not been successful. I do get itunes to install, but it does not install the modil device support program. I have deleted the programs in order, cleaned out the file folders, deleted temp. I am missing something and am open to suggestions. I even tried a system restore to an earlier date. Downloaded itunes with google and IE. I hope I am missing something that is obvious, but I haven't seeen it yet. Appreciate any suggestions.

Thanks

Thanks, See b noir's post Standalone Apple Application Support install. Unpack the setup file and try to install AppleMobileDeviceSupport64. Even if it fails it might provide useful feedback.

I'm not sure about the 64-bit installer, but the 32-bit one includes a Vista-only iCloud component. You may need to go to iCloud Control Panel to redownload that if you use it.
