Hello! You seem to be quite the expert, so maybe you can answer my question. I just bought a new iPhone and traded in my old one in-store. When I got home to transfer my backed up data onto my new phone, I was greeted with that runtime error. If I follow the steps that you've posted for removing and reinstalling iTunes, will all of my backed up data be lost? Thanks!

Me too! I've been having this error @ windows boot, and at various other times with other apps...i've been going Crazy trying to figure out what i installed or uninstalled that stripped that library... iTunes was not even on my radar.

Uninstalled all per instructions...reinstalled, launched iTunes (all settings et al returned as they were) ... and no more C++ runtime errors from other apps.

Thank you very much for your time to post the solution.

I have followed all the steps and finally got everything removed, I try to reinstall last night and got error ("Apple Application Support was not found" Apple Application Support is required to run iTunes. Please uninstall iTunes, then install iTunes again." Error 2 (Windows error 2)" ) I then went through the uninstall process again which happened to be only iTunes and none of the other supporting programs. After download and install, I got the same error as above along with "Apple Application Support was not found" Apple Application Support is required to run iTunes. Please uninstall iTunes, then install iTunes again." Error 2") so now I have those two errors. Could you point me in a direction that I could try next please?

If you've been through the second box in Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates and it still won't reinstall cleanly then download and install 7-Zip (free), or a free trial of WinRAR, and use one of them to extract the contents of the iTunesSetup.exe or iTunesSetup64.exe installer file, then try installing AppleApplicationSupport.msi as a standalone component. Even if it won't install you may get a more useful error message as to why not.

I have tried everything again. I used winRAR and tried to extract contents and I must be doing it wrong because they are not extracting. I'm so frustrated with iTunes and Microsoft right now that I'm going to go out and buy a Linux machine and an Android phone. I just want the previous version of iTunes back! The **** thing updated itself and screwed everything up! Can you post the link to get a previous version again please? Apple and Microsoft are competing to see who can **** users off the most and make them install a million useless updates a week!
