apsdaemon.exe missing msvcr80.dll and won't run... Help???

Thanks turingtest2 and nice handle name. I had this problem regarding MSVCR80.dll.

My system: I have a Dell desktop running Vista. iTunes would not work and reinstalling did not work.

What worked was uninstalling most of the apple software as described above by turingtest2 and then reinstalling itunes as an administrator.

What I uninstalled:

iTunes, Apple Application Support, Apple Mobile Device Support, and Apple Software Update. Bonjour and iCloud

I did not remove all Apple publisher programs: eg, Quicktime; VoiceOver Kit.

After that: I rebooted the computer (Windows Restart); downloaded iTunes; and installed it.

It worked.

All of the above, plus googling to find out about MSVCR80.dll, took a lot of time and was quite a hassle. If my wife or kids had to do this, it would be challenging. It seems this all happened after an iTunes update. Apple, please be careful with your updates and releases!

I added Safari to the list of uninstalls and your instructions worked. Thank you!

I had called an Apple support number, given in yet another post where someone was helped, and was told that,"iTunes was not an Apple product and we don't help with PCs". I asked if that meant I couldn't use iTunes any more and was told, "guess that's right," before she hung up on me.

The not-so-subtle message here is, buy a MAC.

This upgrade has to be the biggest heap of crap you've released for some time.

Have you had the kids working on the code, for this one? It stinks.

So far, I've wasted three hours of my time trying to debug my machine which you've thankfully corrupted for me.

I think you forgot to mention that if Safari is installed in a PC - then that needs to be removed as well, before a re-install.

You shouldn't need to uninstall Safari, but it certainly won't hurt to do so.

I tried to follow in accordance to your steps you mentioned, and I cant even do the first step, which is uninstalling the iTunes program.

It says that " The Windows Installer Service could not be accessed. This can occur if you are running Windows in Safe mode, or if the Windows installer is not correctly installed. Contact your support personnel for assistance."

I wasnt running in safe mode at all, and I am the Administrator.

- Cant uninstall iTunes

- Cant reinstall iTunes

- Unregistered and Re-registered registrys, changed security for Windows, and it still wouldnt work.

Someone please help me........

Are you trying to uninstall from Windows control panel or from the iTunes directory (if that is possible)? If you haven't been trying from control panel uninstall try that.
