iPad mini not discovering any Bluetooth devices

My brand new iPad mini doesn't discover any Bluetooth devices, and can't be discovered by other devices. The Bluetooth is on, all devices are in discoverable mode, they are close by each other, but my iPad mini gets stuck on "searching" and the wheel spinning, but it can't find anything to pair with, even though there is a Bluetooth connection waiting right next to it.

I have mainly been trying to pair with Bluetooth speakers (to which I am able to connect with an other iPad), but the iPad mini can't find them, nor can it find my iPhone or the other iPad. And vice versa the other devices can't find my iPad mini.

I've tried restarting, pressing home and shutdown at the same time, I have upgraded to the latest iOS etc etc but nothing seems to be working. Any tips on what to do? It's as if the iPad mini thinks it has got Bluetooth techonology but someone in the assembly process forgot to actually put the hardware into it..

Hi

You can't use Bluetooth to pair iOS devices with other iOS devices or Computers (Macs or PCs) as it's not part of the OS.

You should be able to pair it with the speakers though. Have you ever been able to pair it with those speakers? What make are they? Does the speaker documentation state it supports pairing with iOS devices? Have you visited to the manufacturer's website to see if there's anything helpful there yet? Have you tried to get as close as possible to the speakers? Distance between devices is a major factor to consider when attempting to pair devices.

HTH?

Make sure the speakers are not paired with one of the other devices at the time you want to pair them with the iPad Mini otherwise they won't show up as they are already paired to something.

With that said, yes the iPhone and other iPad will not pair with the mini except to share an internet connection and for that you'll need to enable the hotspot feature on the iPhone or iPad (if cellular model) before attempting to pair.

Hi Tony, and thanks for your help. Unfortunately it didn't work. I checked the speaker homepages (Elipson Timber Bluetooth speaker, with BT 2.1, http://www.elipson.com/en/model/301_Timber.html) and they do support iOS, also they are able to pair up with another iPad and iPhone. Even though iPad mini has BT4, they should be compatible, right? Distance is not the issue either as I've tried with the devices just next to each other/on top of each other/close together..

It's like the iPad mini can't find any Bluetooth connections at all.
