Treo or Blackberry?

Random question... Which do you all prefer? Treo or Blackberry? I have used palm for years, but I am thinking Blackberry for Verizon now.. Anyone have any experience with this? Also, does anyone know if the Verizon Blackberry can do Instant Messanging (AIM)..

Thanks!

Go with the blackberry. I've use both, finally gave up on the Treo - couldn't take the daily crashes. The BB is more stable and a better email/phone device. The calendar function is not as strong, nor is the contact manager but they both work just fine. Don't worry about the keyboard. You'll get use to it. I sync the BB with pocketmac. A couple of idiosyncrasies I've gotten use to, most notably birthdays don't show up on the BB.

I would use the Blackberry. I have the 8700g and use both the Blackberry IM and Yahoo IM (available as a free download from the RIM site). The Yahoo IM is rock stable and works brilliantly with most functions.

As a phone it is very good and as email very stable. Highly recommended. Pity that the Apple sync is not the greatest.

One other thing, the Bluetooth is not as good as the SonyEricsson W810i of my wifeswhen connected to the car's bluetooth.

I believe it was released in early December of 2005. I am not sure if there are any new Blackberry devices coming out.

If you want the latest and greatest and have no problem with waiting for the bugs and issues to be worked out, then wait, otherwise get the 7130e.

It's not officially available in the US yet which is great, because that means it's easier to get for a decent price with no provider specific frou-frou on it and always unlocked.

I got mine on Ebay for $330 and it's perfect. Will work on all GSM carriers (SIM card). If you want to use the Blackberry function, you need to go with T-Mobile though (however, installation is a little tricky), but POP mail works fine.

Not sure if there will be a Verizon version, but quite honestly, Verizon is only for people who never leave the country.

I have a friend that uses T-Mobile EDGE and there is a big difference between Verizon EVDO speed and T-Mobile EDGE. I constantly connect at 500-600kpbs while my friend connects around 150-200. Also, note that EDGE is a 2.75G and EVDO is 3G.

I am also looking forward to Verizon deploying EVDV which will enabled services like VoIP ( http://www.infoworld.com/article/04/03/22/HNverizonrollout_1.html?XML%20DATABASE S)

I do not use AIM so I am not sure, but I believe the previously mentioned messengers can be install on most bb devices. I would have purchased the 7130e if it was realised. It seems to be more compact. The 7250 is little bit to wide for me. As far as features, i believe they are mostly the same. The 7250 support national access (slower speed) and the 7130e does not. The only difference i see is hardware specific.
