The Procedure entry point Could not be located in the dynamic Link Library

I have recently received an error message that starts out with "The Procedure entry point XXX Could not be located in the dynamic Link Library" and then I get an Error 7 (Windows error 127). iTunes will not start. I have uninstalled all Apple programs and then re-installed them. Still no luck. I am running Windows 8.1. I have tried systen restore too but with no luck.

Any solutions or suggestions. This only started this evening when I tried to open iTunes!

There are several different scenarios that could lead up to the error, but typically it arises because an older version of the .dll has been copied into the wrong folder to workaround a different problem, and now after updating iTunes the outdated .dll that gets called cannot handle the request made of it.

For general advice see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.

The first box outlines the fix I suggested back in January. For some people it is all they need to do.

The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down page in case one of them applies.

Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there is backup and recovery advice elsewhere in the user tip.

Hi,

I have a similar, but slightly different error. Running iTunes 12.1.2.27 on Windows 8, It reads:

The procedure entry point ADAdServer_SetPropertiesforAdRequest could not be located in the dynamic library link C:\Program Files\iTunes\iTunes.dll

It doesn't say what kind of error this is. I've tried installing individually the Apple Application Support and Apple Mobile Device Support items individually, as was suggested elsewhere for a similar error, but with no luck. iTunes still won't open.

Should I follow the user tip here (Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates) or is there something else going on?

The correct message is as follows:

iTunes.exe – Entry Point Not Found

The procedure entry point

?videoTracks@QTMovie@@QBE?AV?$Vector@V?$RefPtr@VQTT

rack@@@***@@$0A@VCrashOnOverflow@2@@***@@XZ

could not be located in the dynamic link library C:\Program Files

(X86)\Common Files\Apple Application

Support\Webkit.dll

When I hit enter, I then get teh following message:

Itunes was not installed correctly. Please reinstall iTunes

Error 7 (Windows error 127)

Anybody with an idea how I can fix this?

I fixed mine by deleting the entire itunes folder inside program files x86

C:\Program Files (x86)\iTunes

And also the entire Itunes folder in original program files

C:\Program Files\iTunes

I then reinstalled Itunes and it worked perfectly.

This seems to occur because uninstalling Itunes leaves some of the old .dll files which cause issues so deleting them all and reinstalling appears to have worked perfectly.

Alternatively this also appears to have repaired a pre-existing Itunes store crash issue with this program.

I must insist that you attempt this at your own risk however it has worked faultlessly for me.

Good afternoon,

Thanks very much for your suggestion. It is pretty much what I had to do. I got hold of the Apple Support guys over the phone and they suggested that I do the following:

1. Remove all .dll files (including QTMovieWin.dll in all iTunes folders and send them to the desktop;

2. Shut down and then re-boot the computer;

3. Uninstall all Apple related files like iTunes, QuickTime, etc. These have to be unstalled in a partcular order and that is importand which is as follows:

a) iTUnes

b) Apple Software UPdate

c) Apple Monile Device Support

d) Bonjour

e) Apple Application Support

4. Ensure that there were no remaining Apple files on the hard drive including files in Program Files (X86) folder;

5) reinstall iTunes.

This worked.

Thanks for your responses guys.
