iTunes Match stopped updating - and then stopped working

I've been using iTunes Match from day one and I haven't got any problem until last week...

I added a few songs to my iTunes Match library last monday. They refused to show up on any iOS device (2 iPhone 4S and one iPad 2). So I took my iPad and disconnected it from iTunes Match, and then reenabled it. There, each time I start the Music App, I get stuck to the "Loading iTunes Match" screen for a few minutes and when it's done, I only see the music I have already on my iPad.... I've tried so far:

- Updating iTunes to 11.1 on my PC and re-updating iTunes Match

- Over Wifi (several different networks) and over 3G

- disconnecting my device from my Apple ID and reconnecting

- Rebooting my device

- Removing all songs from my lib

- Manually syncing a song or two from my PC with iTunes

- Playing with the "Show All Music" and "Use iTunes Match" toggles to no end

It's all the same: I can't get any new songs from iTunes Match. Everytime I launch the music app, I get the "loading itunes match" screen for a few minutes and then I get my regular library.

NOTE: I have bought a few albums from the iTunes store. I can see them in my lib, but I cannot download them from the music app. The cloud transforms itself into a circle and then back to the cloud after a second or two. I can download them from the iTunes store. This is not an issue for me but it might be related.

At this time, restoring from a backup is an either/or proposition. So to see if you can fix this problem the best course of action is to set up the iPhone as a new device. This means some app data may be "lost." There's really no other way to do it. What kind of app data are you concerned about? Many apps will allow you to backup seperately to iCloud.

Well, for one thing, I'll have to reinstall all the apps manually and then reconfigure them. That alone is painful. All my levels in all my games will be lost I guess. My address book on waze. etc...

It will take weeks for me to get back to the state I am right now.

I guess it's time to have a deep look at Google Play music and Amazon cloud player.

In any case, thanks for all the help.

Ok, I've got news!

I've restored my iPhone (without restoring a backup). I've entered my iTunes Match account and ... the problem is still there. Can't access anything from my iTunes Match account, "Loading iTunes Match" shows up everytime I launch Music and I see the 5 albums I bought on iTunes without being able to download them...

I am on iOS 7.0.4...

For now, I am restoring my backup since it doesn't look like the iOS restore did anything good for me.

Any idea?

I have an appointment for next tuesday.

Would you agree (from the info we have here) that nothing is wrong with my iPhone? I mean, if something was, it would be a pretty rare occurence, and the fact that I have three iOS devices in that state at home kind of indicates that something is wrong with my iTunes Match account, not my devices.

Note that I have my old 3GS that still work at home, only iOS7 devices fail with iTunes match...

Anyways, I'll keep this post updated with my findings as I keep investigating the issue.

In the meantime I'm almost done matching my MP3 collection with Google Play Music and all is well on that front, even though the iOS app is very basic compared with the built-in Music app.

I maintain a large iTunes library through a desktop (Window 8, iTunes 12). I often create and edit playlists and want these changes reflected on my iOS device (iPhone 6, iOS 8). After I make the change in iTunes on the desktop, I "Update iTunes Match". The changes are not showing up on my iOS device, even after a few days of waiting. The changes do show up on another desktop PC that I have linked to my iTunes Match account. I have tried turning off iTunes Match on the iOS device, then turning it back on. New playlists still don't show up. And even if this did work, this is not a workable solution for me because I download approximately 60GB of music to stay on my phone. If you disable iTunes Match on the iOS device, then turn it back on, it deletes any songs saved on the iOS device (you receive the warning that: "iTunes Match will replace the music library on this device"). I can't re-download these 60GB of songs every time that I make a change to the library, because it takes a few days to download this many songs over wifi. Tried rebooting, logging out and back into iTunes account, etc. And yes, I have enabled "Show All Music".

How can I update the iTunes Match info on my iOS device to reflect recent changes to my iTunes library? Very frustrating...

Think that I solved the problem. I found other posts by people not being able to sync smart playlists that referenced other playlists. I removed all references to other playlists in my new playlist on iTunes on my PC, then turned off, then back on, iTunes match on my iOS device. Playlist now shows up. If you make a playlist that references other playlists, then it will show up in iTunes on PCs, but not on an iOS device. At least that is my understanding.
