After logic board replacement my MBP boots to a black screen......

Just wondering if anyone can point me in the right direction to fixing this problem.

After sending my MBP in for the THIRD time (good Lord) Apple replaced the logic board. Everything operates fine now but I no longer get the Apple logo when I boot-up, just a black screen with white text scrolling down it. I'd appreciate any info on how to get the original start-up screen functioning as Apple tech wouldn't even give me a hint on a solution without a $50 information service fee (or re-upping the full Apple Care).

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

It's not broken.AppleCare left it in verbose mode.It's used to test if anything is hanging during startup.
I wanted to let you know so you don't worry about it,but I personally do not know how to change it back.
I'm sure a Mac Guru will come along and get you fixed up soon.

I am not guru, BUT can't a desktop color be changed in system preferences/desktop & screen saver, and select color desired? I always have medium gray.

Orcinus,

I took your advice and opened the com.apple.Boot.plist with Text and Word (I don't know what else to open it with since Terminal is not one of the choices). Directly under 'Boot Graphics' is says Yes, here's the whole thing as it was copied:

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
<!DOCTYPE plist PUBLIC "-//Apple Computer//DTD PLIST 1.0//EN" "http://www.apple.com/DTDs/PropertyList-1.0.dtd">
<plist version="1.0">
<dict>
<key>Kernel</key>
<string>mach_kernel</string>
<key>Kernel Flags</key>
<string></string>
<key>Boot Graphics</key>
<string>Yes</string>
</dict>
</plist>

Any other suggestions? I appreciate you taking the time to help me out here.

Richard,

I attempted to get out of single user mode by typing REBOOT but it still reverts to the original problem. I did notice after rebooting there was a split second where a folder with a question mark appears on the middle of the screen and then vanishes only to be replaced by the dreaded black screen/white text.

Any thoughts? I really appreciate you taking the time to respond!! Thank you.

Richard,

Thanks for replying again. I did as you suggested and came up with the same black screen/white text scroll as before. This machine boots up without a problem I'm just trying to get it out of the verbose and or/ single user mode that Apple Tech put it into when they replaced the logic board. I tried typing reboot hoping that would work, to no avail. Of course, I'm just assuming it's in a service mode and that there is not some trickier glitch involving the logic board at work here.

Again, thanks for your effort.
