My iphone is not showing up as a device in itunes when it is plugged into my computer, how do I fix this?

I have tried restarting my computer and my iphone but this didn't help. My phone is connecting to the computer and it is showing up in my computer but it will not show up in itunes. I'm not sure what else to do. Please help.

Thank you! 🙂 This helped me!

To add to this because my scenario was slightly different, I needed to open Device Manager > Portable Devices > Apple iPhone. I right-clicked Apple iPhone and install the drivers from this location: C:\Program Files\Common Files\Apple\Mobile Device Support\Drivers

After they installed I need to "Allow" the device to be used and all is great now!

All the best - Fred

Thank you my devices were connecting just fine and then with the most recent update ITunes stopped recognizing them. I spent half the day adding new songs only to not be able to transfer them to my phone because it wouldn't recognize my phone. I spent numerous hours trying to fix it and was on the phone with apple (waiting on hold) when I noticed this post. I tried it and it worked ITunes finally recognized my phone. Thank you!
