My iphone is not showing up as a device in itunes when it is plugged into my computer, how do I fix this?

I have tried restarting my computer and my iphone but this didn't help. My phone is connecting to the computer and it is showing up in my computer but it will not show up in itunes. I'm not sure what else to do. Please help.

I tried to do what you said, but on the very first question I got stuck. I switched from a 5 to a 5s today, and this is the first time I've ever not had my phone show up on iTunes. I plugged it in with a Belkin USB cable first, and that didn't work, then I tried it with the actual iPhone 5 charger cable and with neither one did EITHER the 5 or 5s show up in my device manager. Help???

I still cannot find my AMDS under the Device manager. I can find it under Uninstall programs as well as local services. There is no instance of it in device manager. Seeing as this seems to be fixing everyone elses problem, I would like a response quickly before I chuck my iPhone out the window since they are worthless and go buy a windows phone and change to spotify or another music sharing website where I can get much cheaper unlimited music without having to deal with apple and its ****** *** services.

I am sorry I should have been alot more detailed. I have already tryed the windows troubleshooting several times with full removal of Apple related software as well JF's post... I have tryed 4 different cables and 3 different phones on my laptop and all the cables/phone work on other machines.. Windows is finding the phone fine and there is nothing faulty show in device manager. My laptop is with me all the time so I would like to use it has my main source but have not had any luck... Any help you can provide will be welcome thanks in advance...

I looked here C:\Program Files\Common Files\Apple\Mobile Device Support\Drivers and there was no driver. I also looked C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Apple\Mobile Device Support\Drivers and there is only a folder for Apple Software update. Not sure what to do. My iphone shows up in itunes but won't let me add any music and it won't sync to my computer either. Any Suggestions?

THANK YOU! JF Fourie... your "fix" for finding and installing the driver did the trick for me too! I've been extremely frustrated with this problem - just like everyone else on this discussion. I just had to register so I could participate in this discussion and let you know what a help you've been!

Your solution steps were exactly what I needed to fix my 5S problem. iTunes just wasn't seeing the phone even though my laptop was showing it just fine in "My Computer."

Installing the driver you recommended fixed my problem.

Here's hoping everyone else gets their issue addressed too!

Thanks again.
