Autosave Error...File being changed by another application???

I've been working on a document in Pages 5.1 which is stored in iCloud. Suddenly I got an alert that the document could not be AUTOSAVED. I closed the file and reopened it and a few minutes later got a different alert, shown below:

User uploaded file

I have no idea where this autosave stuff is coming from. I always save it manually. And I surely have no idea what "other application" is changing it.

The only thing I can think of is that before all this started, I did REVERT TO...BROWSE ALL VERSIONS and restored a previous version. But I've done that many times and never got any autosave alerts.

Anyone have any idea what's going on here? I'm afraid my document will get all messed up or at the very least, those alerts coming down every minute or two are driving me nuts.

Thanks.

Menu > File > Export > Pages '09

There are other ways to transfer files between iPad and Mac and iWork for iCloud beta is beta and quirky in its own right.

I am fascinated with just how much loss of functionality and pain users are prepared to put up with just because Apple tells them to jump.

Peter,

Concerning the "pain users are prepared to put up with," I think you are ignoring the anesthetic effect of drinking the Koolaid.

Someone who embraces the idea of editing documents on a device with a tiny screen and no real keyboard, where the pointer is a fingertip that obscures hundreds of pixels instead of an on-screen pointer that can address a single pixel, is already far too euphoric to notice the pain involved in the changes to the desktop version.

I exported to and I think I will use Pages 09. The only misgivings I have are:

  1. I will lose all the previous VERSIONS from the Pages 5. I guess I can always open up the last Pages 5 file from which I did the export to Pages 09 and then browse the old versions from there if I need to. Is there a better way?
  2. I do like the display of COMMENTS better in Pages 5.
  3. I can't open the Pages 09 file on my IPAD version of Pages. But I guess if I want to work on the document on my ipad I can always duplicate the Pages 09 file first and then open it on the iPad which will convert it to the Pages 5 format and then re-export that file again to Pages 09 but that seems to be a lot of trouble. Again, is there a better way?

It's better than having that error message popup everytime there is an autosave though I think. I just wonder why I started getting those alerts now, after never getting them for months?

I have answered your questions multiple times, and yes everybody has their own way of working. I prefer that that is not restricted.

How is the Pages 5 Comments better?

You can not compare two comments at the same time.

You can not print them.

What makes it better, that you choose that as an argument in Pages 5's favor?

That is not sarcasm, that is curiosity.
