Can't Transfer Files to External Hard Drive Anymore

I have a Toshiba External hard drive, 1 TB, (I've only used 140.51 GB) that I have been saving files and photos to. A window would pop up asking me what I wanted to use the hard drive for, and I always click decide later. The other day I accidentally clicked a different option and now it won't let me put pictures on it anymore and says read only. Is there a way I can change this back to where I can save my photos to the hard drive without erasing anything off of it?

I had the same problem. For a while I could write to the drive from my MAC, then I couldn't.

Reformatting the drive seemed extreme.

I too saw the mac drivers folder on my toshiba 1tb hard drive.

The instructions inside stated

Tuxera NTFS for Mac® The Toshiba Canvio® External Hard Drive is formatted with NTFS and can be read and written on Windows® PCs. Mac OS® X can read data from this drive with no additional software. However, Mac OS® X does not support writing to NTFS out of the box. In order to allow both Mac OS® X and Microsoft® Windows to write to the drive, Toshiba has included Tuxera NTFS for Mac with this product. Tuxera NTFS for Mac should be installed on your Mac if required.

Tuxera NTFS for Mac will enable both read and write support for the NTFS partition on your Mac. For more information about Tuxera NTFS for Mac, please refer to the online user's manual at the following link: http://www.tuxera.com/mac/onlinehelp/

Installation Instructions To install Tuxera NTFS for Mac, double click on the "Tuxera NTFS for Mac.dmg" file located in the “Mac Driver” folder and follow the displayed instructions.

NOTE: Use of Time Machine® software requires the drive to be reformatted to HFS+. It is recommended that you copy all the data to another hard drive before formatting.

Note the installation states that it requires a restart of your Mac before it will work. I was able to simply eject and connect my external drive again to get it to work after the installation finished.
