how do I log in as root user in order to access library in Mavericks

I am trying to delete a CarboniteDaemon that is in my root user library. I found a thread on how to enable my root user, but can't figure out how to either log in as the root user or to simply find the root user library so that I can delete all things Carbonite. Carbonite is off of my main admin user folders/libary/applications - completely uninstalled, but it still has folder in the root user library that is eating up my CPU in the Activity Monitor. I can't find it to delete it. Thank you for your help!!

Thanks for your update.

I tried the free trial of Carbonite some 5 years ago.

It always had my fans ramped up and I was quick to uninstall the trial, even after the very long initial backup.

It proved quite challanging to track down everything and stop the throttling respawn issue.

Only after three emails to Support was able to dig out all the offend parts.

I sure hope it works better on PC !

I know it's too late to say this now, ASGfromAK, but in case you find yourself in a similar situation in the future just used the TrashMe app - zaps the pesky carbonite daemon and all associated files, without the pain of going through root user.
