Hello. Why are there large spaces in my document? How can I get rid of them?

One of my paragraphs is cut in half, halfway down the page, and continues on the next. I didn't request this, and not sure how to make it re-join.

I have deleted the 'gap' or 'space' between the last word on one page, and the first word on the other, but all that happens is that one word joins the other, but the big gap remains.

I have had this happen several times to me: when I have converted a Word doc. to a pages document, and just stating a fresh document, although with a bit of copying/cutting/pasting going on.

Is anybody able to help?

I would be most grateful.

Hello Peter, well, as this is a working document, it seemed to disappear as I continued to add text in another part of the document. However, this is still occuring in another document. However this time it is not a blue dot (space) but a return. I have attached a screen shot of this problem. Ultimately it is the same. When I delete the return the p.63 goes down to the text below. As I delete each thing it all drops down to join the main paragraph below, but leaves this huge gap above.
