how do insert a disc into iMac

this sounds utterly ridiculous, and I'm rather embarrassed to be asking, but how do I insert a disc into my iMac?

(I'm way behind the times, and just graduated from an old G5 power pc...eek!

If you're using a recent iMac, there's no optical drive; you'll need to use an external one or one inside a different computer. On earlier models, it's on the right side of the computer.

If you have one of the newest iMacs you will need to purchase an External USB Optical Drive there are a ton of them available. Some are a lot cheaper and the vary from Slot Loading to Tray Loading there are different schools ot thought on which is best. I personally bought the Apple SuperDrive for $79.00. Like I said there are several that are much cheaper and you will need to make that choice.

You can get a good one at Best Buy for about $40. I have one of these and it works right out of the box. No software installation necessary. Just plug it into a USB 3.0 port and it works just fine. I've used mine for watching DVD as well as burning them. Here it is.
