Constantly Having to rebuild mailbox

I am at my wits end with my mailbox. I have a few accounts in my mac mail and one of them will frequently (several times a day), empty itself. I fix it by rebuilding the mailbox, which redownloads the thousands of messages on my server. This also happen on my iphone. Does anyone have any ideas on how to fix this? I've tried deleting the account and re-adding it, but that didn't work. I'm osx 10.9.1 and running mail 7.1. Thoughts?

Thanks!

Mac OS 9.1.x

Not sure what's causing you problem, but it should not be happening to your computer and iPhone at the same time. That indicates to me some setting or a mail provider problem. If one were deleting the messages or moving them from the inbox so they wouldn't appear on the other device, then they would not redownload from your mail provider when you rebuild the mailbox. I don't remember about Mountain Lion settings, but check Mail's preferences under Accounts Tab/ Advanced tab and see if there is a box to check to keep messages for offline viewing.

Maybe put a bit more info like mail porvider, type of account (POP or IMAP), or any other info you can add. That may help someone else provide an answer for you.
