have just imported iMovie events to FCP library. Background tasks all completed. Files copied with HD resolution. Have gone back into fcp and noted clips are now all fuzzy?? ie. have lost all their resolution. Checked background tasks which indicated 100%, and noted that they were all idle. Why has this happened? do these files need to be deleted and re copied across?? Very frustrating would appreciate any wisdom on this problem.

Have installed FCP 10.1.1. media = memory card sandisk extreme 45MB/s. Files present with excellent defintion in i-Movie and did in FCP initially. Now always fuzzy in viewer, atlhough when move mouse over some clips in browser, they become excellent in definition while viewer remains fuzzy and sometimes fuzzy both in browser and viewer...???

A quick update that might assist - have just scrolled down through clips in browser and am now quite confused. It would appear that I have duplicate clips that have been created in individual events. Crappy fuzzy ones, but then the clear HD ones are further down the line of scroll..althought there doesn't seem to by any chronological order to their presentation ie. fuzzy sequence and then same sequence presented in HD. Why this happen? Can I simply delete the fuzzy ones from the browser? Sorry but very confused about this...

Hi Tom,

I'm finding it very hard to resume my big project of digitizing old home VHS and VHS-C videos into FCP X. First the updated FCP decided to stop accepting converted analog imports, so my workaround was to do it in iMovie then move the clips over to DCP. Then iMovie was updated to make that impossible, so my work-around was to find my older version of iMovie in the applications folder and to use that. But after taking many months off of my project, now trying it again, I'm not able to recreate whatever method I had last used to move the iMovie clip into the FCP events library. Do you know how I can do that?

You mention the Quicktime player as another option, but do you know how to import analog video into Quicktime, using my Canon miniDV camcorder as the converter to digital?

Would appreciate any guidance!

Best,

Scott

I suspect the fuzzy clips are thumbnails, whereas the clear clips are the real copied media files.

If I understand correctly you copied the iMovie files from the iMovie Library to an SD card??

There is an Export to FCP X or something of that nature in the iMovie File options.

This works well with FCP X.
