I have downloaded books in epub format to iBook from my newspaper provider. They are not visable in iTunes. How do I make them visable, do back up of them or move them to another Apple device e.g. a iPad Mini or PC? Thanks in advance/khn

Import or drag them into iBooks. Also, set your iBooks settings to sync across devices.

If they are in the iBooks app on your iPad then you should be able to copy them over to the Books part of your computer's iTunes library via File > Devices > Transfer Purchases - that should copy over epubs and/or PDFs that are in the iBooks app, not just actual ibooks (if your computer is a Mac with OS X Mavericks on it then do File > Move Books From iTunes in its iBooks app to copy them over to it). If you connect another iOS device they should then show on its Books tab for being available for syncing to it ; if you want to copy them to a different computer then you will need to copy them yourself to that computer
