Mac Hard Drive Damaged Beyond Repair?

Hello, My mac was fine and one day i went to turn it on and found it would not load :O I tried a safe boot, then tried single user mode but got I/O Errors and Invalid Node structure errors forever. I put the computer in Target disk mode and transferred the files i want to keep. Then in target disk mode i tried disk utility but was unable to repair the hard drive 😟 So i did the only other thing i thought would work, i erased the hard drive since i already have the files i need. Now Trying to load i get the Blinking folder with ?. so i created a recovery HD thumbdrive and ran disk utility, "Disk Utility Was Unable to repair the hard drive". Is The Hard Drive Toast? Should i buy i new one or have it replaced?

Thanks.

Looking at Hard drives, SSDs are Expensive :O Can any kind of hard drive fit in it? I couldnt seem to find the HD on Amazon, Disk Utillity says its: Hitachi hts545032b9a02 Media. (thats the type right😕) Looking at prices i think my dad is fine with ording one 😝 he just wants to makes sure the hard drive works... I'm not afraid of putting the drive in, just buying one that doesnt fit.

As long as you stay at a max height of 9.5mm you're fine. Some MBP's will accept the 12.5 mm height, but there's no need to do that. There are plenty of 9.5 mm out there. This is a nice compromise between an SSD and an HD. It's an HD with a bit of SSD built in. Not as fast as a pure SSD, but better than a traditional HD.

Today Looking in a stack of cds i found something i never though i would find, the install cd. i booted up the computer holding c and ran disk utility. still unable to repair. i tried installing and it failed. so i went to disk utility and hit erase. Amazingly after the erase disk util gave me "the drive looks OK". I wasnt really sure if it was ok since erasing before had no effect at all. trying to install osx again it fails, however after trying 2 more trys it installed and i was able to set up the computer 🙂 It was working fine and i restarted it 3 times to make sure no boot up errors were occuring any more. But of course going on 2 hours later gives i get boot up problems and disk util isnt giving me the green OK any more 😟

I'm not to sure. i loaded up the install disk again and went into terminal i put it: /sbin/fsck_hfs -ypr /dev/disk0s2 and after running that diskutility told me it looked OK again. The mac loaded up and i decided to do some research about repair programs and stuff, i found applejack and installed it. i noticed app store wasnt there and found out i need to do a sofware update to get it, so i updated it but once it had to restart i got load up problems again. So i ran apple jack in sigle user mode, it seemed to repair the disk and a lot of permissions. i came back a few minutes later to find the computer on home screen 🙂 So far the computer has been fine and disk utility is saying it looks ok. im even typing this from the computer that couldnt boot yesterday 🙂 i will watch the computer and likely test it a few times tommorow to see how its doing.
