Lacie drive keeps disconnecting

Since upgrading to Mavericks, almost every time my Mac awakens from sleep mode, it says my Lacie drive was not ejected properly. I have to unplug it each time & reconnect it, plus I have to close down I-Photo & reload it.

Has anyone had a similar problem and if so how did you solve this?
