How do I overcome "You don't have permission" ( to delete/reinstall i

I have asked this before, but when following the advice to go to Control panel and uninstall in a recommended way, I get administrator has put in place things to stop this operation ( or similar).A futher message says something like " you don't have the necessary permissions to install this, refer to your (system?) administrator. There is no administrator, only myself ( the p.c. OWNER)

Why can't I use my own @@@?%** computer.?

Solving the iTunes Installation Problems in Windows

1. Apple has posted their solution here: iTunes 11.1.4 for Windows- Unable to install or open - MSVCR80 issue.

2. If the Apple article does not fully resolve the problem for you, then try Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates - MSVCR80.

Just to try and cover the bases I might try the following.

Download and save a fresh iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64Setup.exe) installer file from the Apple website (don't run the install on line):

http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/

Now right-click the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64Setup.exe) file, and select "Run as administrator".

If the installer asks you to remove or repair itunes: select "Remove". If the uninstall goes through okay, right-click on the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64Setup.exe) file, and select "Run as administrator" again to reinstall iTunes.

Otherwise, if the installer just runs and tries to install a newer version, does that go through any better?

🙂 You're welcome!

However, I still have the unanswered question as to how I can be denied permissions on my own machine of which, I am the sole user and administrator.

It's a permissions problem of some sort that mimics the condition of a group policy (or similar disabling action) having been applied to the PC. It's more common to get the message when installing iTunes, as per the following user tip:

"The administrator has set policies to prevent this installation" error messages when installing iTunes for Windows on Windows Vista and Windows 7 systems

... because you were getting this when uninstalling iTunes, effectively what we were trying to do was do a "Run as administrator" on the uninstall procedure.
