I thought that by connecting an iPod to a Sony amplifier, I could make use of the Sony speakers, but they remain silent. Could this be something to do with using the wrong connection. At the time of writing, I don't have access to the amplifier, but I believe that it has a couple of phono sockets on the back which may be labelled "Analog". Could this be the problem? Sorry to sound so vague.
iMac G4, 1.25 GHz 20 inch screen,
Mac OS X (10.3.9)
You should be able to play it through any analogue input by using a cable with a single 3.5 mm plug to two RCA phono plugs. You can take the output from the headphone socket but you'd have to crank up the volume. A better solution is to get one of the many docks that will feed your stereo with a line level input: Connecting iPod to your home or car stereo
The best solution for this is issue is to contact sony and check with them is the ipod compatible with the speaker and the amplifier that we have. if its compatible their might be a right way to connect that as well
-So they will be able to assist you with that
Zevoneer, I apologise for taking so long to get back to you, but your link to "Connecting iPod to your home or car stereo" did the trick. It was simply a process of turning down the volume control on the iPod and using the amplifier controls to adjust the volume. Success! Thanks again.
