Issue with whatsapp backup on Iphone 5

using iPhone5 (iOS 7.0.4 (11B 554a)) on that Whatsapp version 2.11.7; I clicked on backup of whats app and it has been going on for ages and its not moving ahead... how do I kill it... have tried to restart my phone, kill app, reinstall but nothing works.

Have you asked the developers of Whatsapp?

It is not an Apple product.

Have sent them a query; have not heard back.... just wanted to check if this is a known issue
