iPod not recognized

So, i searched a lot, I've tryied almost anything but this new iTunes won't recognize my 1st gen iPod Touch for nothing, I'm using Windows 8.1 64bits btw. I already uninstalled everything and did a clean install of iTunes and the other components, its not the cable, cuz my windows recognizes it, so its not the usb port too. My iTunes version in my Windows Vista 32bits recognizes my iPod, so its something with this new version/64bits. Before the update everything was fine. Halp pls.

After reinstalling all (for the 4th or 5th time i guess) it says that I don't have the proper software installed and it's impossible to install Apple Mobile Device. Really, I try to install it, and it finishes as was everything allright, and it doesn't install. As I can see there are very people having problems like this, is there a fix coming out soon? An update? Something?

I don't know about with windows 8, but have you tried restarting your computer? Sometimes that helps.
Have you tried restarting your iPod as well? Because I used to have trouble with that, and I would have to restart both my iPod and my computer and it woulds work. It might be different for me, because I am using an iPod 4th gen, not a 1st, but I hope I helped in some way! 🙂

I have had the same problem and have been googling a fix for about 3 days. I had tried a million things and was pulling my hair out. FINALLY something worked. I had already reinstalled itunes but I decided to try again. This time when I went to uninstall a program I sorted by anything to do with Apple and took everything off. There were 5 programs all together. Last time I just took off itunes. Then I did the usual itunes download. After this I plugged in my ipod and it said it was configuring the USB driver for ipod. And then miraculously it appeared in itunes.
