To move individual files and folders, just drag them. If you're trying to move a Mac OS X installation, use a program such as the Disk Utility, Carbon Copy Cloner, or SuperDuper to clone it.

I am having problems finding the WD HD on my desktop... I see the Lacie Icon but not the WD icon.. How do I locate the file and save it as a desktop. Would that make it possible to drag and drop?
if it don't show up in finder then you may have a problem
if it does then mark what you want to copy and choose copy
and then navigate to where you want it and choose paste
Choose Computer from the Finder's Go menu; if it appears there, either drag the files to it or open the General tab of the Finder's preferences and check the box for it. If not, open the Disk Utility in the /Applications/Utilities/ folder and repair or erase it.

I think I may have the WD hardrive labeles as Time Machine backup on my computer that is why the Western Digital Icon is not showing. Can I drag the Time Machine backup to the Lacie Icon and will that then transfer the files/data?
Went down to step 9 and 10... I attempted to drag backups.backupdb from curent drive to the new drive and received an error code 1426. Backups could not be moved/modified. Not sure what that means...
Can you be clearer about what the root level means? That needs some clarification to me .Too technical. Thansk for the instructions it appeared to make sense to me until I reached the error message.
That means the top level of the drive.
