ITunes tells me my IPhone doesn't have enough memory for all the items in my iTunes library...

However, i had about a gigabyte (or so) free before I added only ten more songs to my library. Now, though, when I try to sync, I get the following message: The iPhone “John Masella’s iPhone” cannot be synced because there is not enough free space to hold all of the items in the iTunes library (additional 1.05 GB required). Initially, ITunes told me I needed about 3 gigabytes, but I deleted some pictures and apps. I don't know what to do at this point, because I really have nothing else I can delete. If anyone could provide me with some assistance, I would be very appreciative.

Essentially, I have 3.74 GB free and am only syncing ten more songs to my phone, but ITunes tells me there is not enough memory.

AN EASY FIX - Have just installed iOS 9.02 (probably not relevant) and received the same "does not have enough free space..." message when trying to sync to either of our two Macs to download a few new TV episodes. Tried deleting content - no joy. Finally tried something mentioned by Amaranthbb on June 5, 2015 who said to go to Summary and check "Sync only checked songs and videos". Without doing anything else, my iPad, which has 68.92 GB of free space and should have absolutely NO problems downloading an extra 5 GB of content, began syncing problem free. Easy and simple. Give it a try.

I was having this issue and thought I should throw in my 2 cents regarding the 'not enough space' issue when trying to update to the latest version of iOS. iTunes was showing that I had over 1 GB of space left on my iPhone and the update required 777 MB, so I thought I was good. I could not figure out why I kept getting the message about not enough space.

Per a user's suggestion previously in this this thread I reviewed the storage info on the directly on the phone (Settings:General:Storage & iCloud Usage). There was a discrepancy in the available storage. According to the phone I only had around 500 available MB, which was not matching the info from iTunes on my laptop. I started considering what to delete and upon navigating to Photos:Albums I saw the album 'Recently Deleted Photos' and realized that the iPhone will keep deleted photos on your device for a certain amount of time. I emptied the folder and the available storage on the iPhone matched the available storage listed via iTunes. This was all it took to perform the update.

I realize this may not be of help to everyone, and may seem simply obvious to others, but the satisfaction of figuring this out compelled me to add to the discussion.

I have the latest MacOS updated and iOS latest as of today too. But, the same problem exists in 2015.

This is beyond irritating, it is mind-boggling. 1MB is needed and 7.44GB available reported by the iTunes error dialog while iTune's OWN space bar for the iPad shows 22.59 GB available. Triple fail. And now I have the same problem on one of 2 IDENTICAL iPhone 6S+ 128GB phones with more than 64GB available. Simple things now require workarounds as if it is Windows 95, like deleting everything and doing it over again. Wonder if anyone has an explanation for these repeated fails AND the inconsistency even between IDENTICAL devices. Thanks.
