whitesmoke...how to delete it?
Unknowingly my son downloaded whitesmoke.....its' causing all sorts of pop up etc. How do I get rid of it?

these seem to be from 2012 and aren't helping me
Doesn't seem to be much more than a simple word processor. The ads are likely because it's in demo mode, and is hounding you to purchase it.
It should be in the Applications folder. Just delete it.
If it's something more to do with what Tony T1 suggested, then the links he pointed to are still relevant. Doesn't matter that they're from 2012. It's the same thing.
Its not an app, not bugging me to buy it and the library folder does not contain it.
You'll need to provide more information then. Otherwise, we can only continue to guess. Can you take screen shots of what you're seeing and post them here using the camera icon? What app are you using when you see this problem? A particular app? More than one?
Check: Safari->Preferences->Extensions
Try: Safari->Reset Safari
Reset doesn't do anything. It "hijacks" your browser and substitutes it's home page search as your preset. It has pop ups that appear on various sites. Its documented pretty well as a windows problem. Google is now not my default search engine...whitesmoke is

it doesnt take over in safari, just firefox as a search engine but it does put up pop ups in safari
and no matter what I do it re appears as my default search
and puts its pop ups into safari browsing
Hmm...How can it populate two different browser?
In Firefox flip the triangle in the search bar. Manage Search engines and Remove it.
did that...and guess what...even if it doesn't show anymore in the list....when I do a search....it defaults to whitefrigginsmoke
At this rate I may end up doing a total rebuild of my MBP from sratch just to get rid of this POS infection
