iOS 7.0.6 wifi problems

I have had terrible problems with this update. I updated my iPhone 4s and iPad, and since the update neither of them will connect to wifi. They would connect, then drop, then reconnect, then drop, etc. I chatted with an Apple Support employee and he suggested to reset network settings. Once I did that, neither device would connect at all. Then he suggested to reset all settings. That didn't work either. Finally, he suggested a full restore on both devices. I did that - and neither of them will connect. He ended the chat before I was able to say that the restore didn't work.


I still can't connect to wifi on either device and I know it's in relation to this update because both worked perfectly fine before the 7.0.6 update. My iMac is connected to the same wifi and has had no problems, so I know it's not an internet issue. Both now say, "Failed to join network."


Has anyone else had problems?

Just want to chime in to say that I have noticed the same problem on my iPhone 4 as well. I was having a problem with the Wi-Fi before iOS 7 then I upgraded and those connection problems went away. I now upgrade to 7.0.6 and I am having trouble getting onto my school's wifi signal in places where I previously had NO problem. I don't have any problems at home since I am nevery far from the AP Express. I do hope that Apple addresses this problem.

I've been having the same wifi drop issues on my iPad 3 with 7.0.4. Did several network resets, router power reset, forgeting the wifi then loging back in, all to no avail. I never had the wifi dropping issue before and it's been well into running on 7.0.4 that this problem popped up.


I have noticed that my Android tablet and LG phone will not drop off at the same time the iPad looses wifi. I found one issue with was radio interference from other routers in my area as well as the cordless phone, which uses the same 2.4GHz frequency as the router. It seems that evertime the iPad becons to find wifi signals, the inteference would cause it to drop the routers radio frequency. Both Android devices don't seem to be affected by this. I could configure my router to run on 5GHz / 40MHz but this would no work with other wifi devices in my house.


I also found I had an isolation issue with the AP. Some how the AP Isolate was set to enable. Once this was disabled, the number of times the wifi would drop out on the iPad became less. It will still periodiclly drop but will pop right back up. More than likely this is from the radio interference and reseting the AP Isolate to disable now allows better communication between devices. There needs to be a stronger "signal lock" on Apple iOS Devices for working networks.


I'm not saying that the new update is a problem but you may need to tweek your router a bit so it can communicate better with you iOS device.

My customers all refer to iOS7 as the "hard reset OS". Every time you put on an OS update, I would strongly advise you to perform a hard reset. It fixes a laundry list of networking issues. Hold down the power button and the Home button for 10 seconds or so (until the device turns itself off). Don't worry, you won't lose any data. What it does is clear out the various caches, including the network cache. Apple rewrote the network stack between ios6 and ios7, in order to make it easier, but introduced a long list of issues. Fortunately the majority can be fixed by doing a hard reset, including inability to connect to wifi. I can't tell you how many times it has worked already, suffice it to say that I now do it automatically before and after every ios upgrade.


If you haven't already upgraded, stay on ios6. But if you have, just hard reset anytime you run into trouble.

The first thing I did was a hard reset and that didn't work for me.


My wifi is "magically" working again, but I have no clue what finally made it just decide to connect again. It didn't work for hours after I finally resorted to restoring my iPhone AND iPad and then it just magically seemed to connect again, with the only action on my part being to simply attempt what I had already been doing in trying to connect to the wifi.

I have a similar problem. Upgraded to 7.0.6 and wifi would not connect. Tried forgetting network and building new connection....nothing. Performed hard reset and now wifi is greyed out and won't even allow me to turn it on.


Since posting this - I turned on Airplane Mode > General Settings > Reset > Reset Network Connections. After it was finished the phone restarted with wifi turned on. Saw my network, entered my pwd and it seems to be working. Funny part is, I did all this last night (twice) with no luck.

Gillian, the definition of insanity is trying the same thing over and over, hoping for a different result each time.


Unfortunately, this often is the only way to achieve a goal in computer tech support.


Having said that, I'm astonished that I cannot fix this ****** iPad's lack-o'-connection to my home network and at least one public access point. It still connects to my work's WPA2-enterprise network (or did before I tried all these resets tonight.. who knows what I'll find broken tomorrow) and it still connects to Starbucks' (ibid) open network, but as of thirty seconds ago, it refuses to connect to my home network even with no wireless password enabled.


I'm deeply irritated.

After reading about the problems concerning iOS 7.0.6 updates to iPad 3, one is inclined to ask whether iPad 3, or any other iPad besides the latest versions (iPad 4th generation, iPad Air (iPad 5)) are in the testbed used by Apple and the iOS App development community during development and performance verification testing of the iOS 7 releases.


If it's any consolation to those experiencing difficulty upgrading to iOS 7.0.6, a professional reviewer recently stated that he experienced a significant reduction in processing speed after downloading iOS 7.0.6 to his iPad 3. As no subsequent statements have been published regarding a solution to the problem, it is assumed it still exists.
