Needs help with kernel problem

Please post the text of the kernel panic report. To find it read: OS X: When your computer spontaneously restarts or displays "Your computer restarted because of a problem."

Something overwrote kernel RAM with zero where nothing should have been accessing. Best guess is some kernel code that freed some RAM then continued to use the memory after the kernel wrote 0xdeadbeefdeadbeef.

What happens if you remove

com.trendmicro.kext.KERedirect

Check with TrendMicro. It is their product. Sometimes the installer has an uninstaller, sometimes the installer installs an uninstaller, sometimes you have to go back to the vendor to get the uninstaller. So check with TrendMicro.

Please determine if the kernel panic also occurs in "Safe Mode":

• Safe Mode or "Safe Boot" is a troubleshooting mode that bypasses all third party system extensions and loads only required system components. Read about it: Starting up in Safe Mode
• You must disable FileVault before you can start your Mac in Safe Mode.
• Starting your Mac in Safe Mode will take longer than usual, graphics will not render smoothly, audio is disabled on some Macs, and some programs (iTunes for example) may not work at all.
• Merely starting your Mac in Safe Mode is not intended to resolve the problem, it's to observe its performance without certain additional components.
• To end Safe Mode restart your Mac normally. Shutdown will take longer as well.

If the kernel panic does not occur in Safe Mode then the problem is likely attributable to Trend Micro.

That would support a conclusion that Trend Micro's software is the cause.

Uninstall the useless Trend Micro product by following the instructions on whichever of the pages linked below is applicable:

Restart. Back up all data before making any changes.

I had similar problems, and couldn't upgrade from Lion. No-one seemed to be able to explain what was wrong, even though techs helped me for hours. The Trend Micro uninstaller left a mess of multiple directories and files. In all honesty, I cannot recall a more miserable product in terms of the difficulty of finding the source of the problems and then trying to remove the files. The product is unnecessary as well. I only installed it because the sales person threw in the software for free!

The best approach is to perform a full backup -don't skip this step!- and then find the offending files. A good place to find a comprehensive list is set

Just look over the information and collect what you need. You don't need to follow the procedures described.

Then reboot in SAFE mode to disable the optional STARTUP routines. Otherwise, you won't be able to remove the files from the machine as they will be running. You can locate and place them in the trash by using Finder, which is easier and safer than using the Terminal. Once you have emptied the trash, reboot normally and check to be sure everything is gone. (I then ran Ccleaner to remove any additional debris.) Finish by pouring yourself a stiff shot of a beverage of your choice, because you earned it.
