Facebook video chat gives "camera not found" and will not connect on Mac OS X Mavericks. FaceTime HD Camera works for all other programs.
My 2013 Macbook Air recognizes the built-in webcam with every single other application- even Skype, which is connected with facebook in their video chat software. However, the facebook video chat says "camera not found" (although it recognizes the microphone) when I try to connect. On the other end, when I try to call, they see the message "your friend is connecting...", but then it disappears and gives up, leaving me with no camera althogh I can see/hear them and they can only hear me.
I have uninstalled and reinstalled both adobe flash and the facebook video chat plugin to no avail.
Although perhaps unrelated, when using oovoo to video chat, it will frequently drop my side of the video and audio and I will still be able to see and hear the other person.
Also, I've tried opening facetime/ photo booth before/during the facebook video chat and my camera will be ON (green light glowing), but will still go undetected on facebook. I've tried using other browsers..I've made sure every other application that used the camera is closed before calling... I've done it all. Still nothing!
Not sure if this is an issue with my camera or the applications, but it's extremely frustrating as I can only communicate with a certain person via facebook video chat and it refuses to work.
Any help is appreciated.
